Partnership with the Madison Symphony Orchestra to provide opportunities for low-income African-American students to attend such events as the Christmas Spectacular at the Overture Center
INTERNATIONAL TRENDS & SERVICES
Provision of financial assistance to Haiti in aftermath of recent earthquake devastation
Provision of school supplies to school children, footwear to children and adults, and support of first aid training in the Port-au-Prince area.
NATIONAL TRENDS & SERVICES
Annually provides food baskets at Thanksgiving holiday to low-income residents of the Wesford Ridge community in partnership with Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Emmanuel Baptist Church-Beloit, the Sable Flames, and Copp’s Food Stores
Conducts health-related activities such as health fairs and distribution of materials related to diabetes, obesity, breast cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
SERVICES TO YOUTH
Develops and implements leadership conferences for African-American girls – 8th grade through high school
For more than 25 years, has sponsored the African-American Student Recognition Program in which 800 students are awarded recognition certificates, 11 middle school students receive $50 U.S. Savings Bonds, and 5-10 college-bound high school students receive $1,000 scholarships.
